White water rafting at Kitulgala in Sri Lanka
Experience the unique sights and sounds of the Sri Lankan rain forest from the unique vantage point of the Kelani River with white water rafting at Kitulgala. With two grades available, the white water rafting can be enjoyed by kids up to the age of 80 (yes, we’ve had 80 year olds join in)!
Bordered by the thick Sri Lankan rainforest, white water rafting down the Kelani River is an exhilarating experience and will leave you with a unique memory of this special place.
About Kitulgala
Situated in the central west of Sri Lanka, Kitulgala is a small town within the rain forest.
Interestingly, the white water rafting at Kitulgala takes places on the nearby Kelani River which was the location of the award winning World War 2 film “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. Only the concrete foundations of the bridge remain from the crowning scene when they blew up the bridge with the train on it!
White water rafting excursion on your Sri Lankan tour
We offer flat water rafting (grade 1) and white water rafting (grade 3, for over 12s) at Kitulgala as an optional excursion during our 15 Day Sri Lanka Group Holiday and 15 Day Sri Lanka Itinerary for Groups for £20 per person.
It is a popular excursion and loved by both the children and the adults!
