Relax in Sri Lanka’s most luxurious hotels, we’ve visited and hand-picked the very best for you:
The Casa Colombo hotel is a magnificent boutique hotel which was converted from a 200 year old Moorish mansion. Fitted with Italian and Indian mosaic floors, Moorish balconies and exceptional interior design, this hotel is a real gem of its era.
Enjoy your stay with a dip in the pool, relax in the air conditioned rooms and stay connected with Wi-Fi.
Probably the best beach villa resort Sri Lanka has to offer, The Reef is situated in Wadduwa which is a couple of hours away from Colombo Airport.
It has countless international accolades as a luxury retreat and you simply will not want to leave! The suites themselves are magnificent, with most of the suites overlooking the Indian Ocean (the exception being the delightful Olu Lily Pond Suite which instead overlooks the lily pond).
The Reef is the very definition of high luxury.
Sitting in 58 acres of stunning land, the Ulagalla is one the best small luxury hotels anywhere in the world where guests enjoy staying in their own private air-conditioned villa.
At the heart of the hotel is the 150 year old Sri Lankan mansion which houses the reception area and restaurant which overlooks the large private pool. There are countless activities in the hotel including horse riding, nature walks, bike riding, spa, gym and pool.
Sri Lanka is home to some of the most impressive sites in human history, all easily accessible from your luxury accommodation.
The largest and most sophisticated construction project undertaken by the ancient Sri Lankans, today the Sigiriya Rock Fortress is one of the most famous sites in Sri Lanka and is a must see for any traveller.
Dating back to the 5th century and once the capital of Sri Lanka, the rock itself is 300m high and the palace at the top provides stunning views of the surrounding plains and distant mountains. Surrounding the rock there is much to see, including the famous water gardens, the frescoes located half way up and the historic lion paws.
The five caves hold roughly 200 Buddha statues and are believed to date back to the first century. The site is a must-see, being the largest painted cave temple anywhere in the world.
Close to Kandy, it’s easy to visit both Dambulla and Sigiriya in a day trip from your hotel in Sigiriya.
One of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and is famous for its well-preserved ruins and artefacts of ancient Sri Lankan civilization and culture.
Located in the north of the country, the city is considered sacred to the Buddhist world and is surrounded by large monasteries. The tallest temple was only second in size to the Pyramids when originally built!
Your luxury Sri Lanka tour wouldn’t be complete without enjoying the spectacular wildlife in the country’s National Parks.
Situated in the north east of Sri Lanka, the Wilpattu National Park is the largest and one the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka and is globally renowned as one of the top national parks for leopards.
The park is idyllic with its dense jungle that opens onto wide lakes which countless majestic animals call home. As well as its renowned leopards, the park also contains a healthy array of other animals, such as water buffalo, crocodiles and sloth bears.
The Minneriya National Park is a great place to sight elephants as they typically crowd toward the lake, especially in large number between June and September when the water begins to dry up.
There are plenty of other wildlife to see in the park too, included deer, beautiful birds and water buffalo. The park is thought to include 24species of mammals, 160 species of bird, 25 species of reptiles and 75 species of butterfly.
