This charming eco-lodge is a real treat if you want to experience nature close to and where there is a real feeling of peace and tranquillity. Built on 5 acres, the accommodation has a number of dwellings built using local products – mud, wood and thatch. There is even a treehouse from where you can watch the local wildlife. The food which is very good indeed, can either be served in the restaurant or your own verandah.

The Lakeside hotel in Anuradhapura was formerly known as Tissa Wewa Grand Rest House (it looks over Tissa Wewa- this is a lake) and was originally built by the British in 1907. It then became a former Dutch governor’s residence.
